Suicide Management In the School Setting

Suicide is a public health crisis. People who die by suicide or attempt suicide usually feel overwhelmed, hopeless, helpless, desperate and alone. Schools have a responsibility to engage in the prevention of suicide, assist with identifying youth at risk and to reduce vulnerabilities at school. It is essential that school is safe and accepting, especially for vulnerable students.

This course is designed to provide culturally appropriate, accurate, user-friendly information for principals, teachers and other school staff to use to address:

  • Suicide prevention
  • Intervention strategies
  • Post-intervention follow-up.
